Born in Derby in 1990, Jack O’Connell is an award-winning actor, with a very diverse résumé, ranging from theatre to Hollywood film.
O' Connell is perhaps best known for his role on the E4 television series Skins on E4, appearing from 2009 – 2010. But he starred in big films before then, notably appearing in This Is England in 2006. He went on to star in the television dramas Dive and United in 2011.
His feature film breakthrough came in the independent movie Starred Up in 2013, which he followed up in 2014 with ’71. Angelina Jolie directed him in his first major Hollywood movie, Unbroken, in 2014, which led to his BAFTA success. He has also starred in Money Monster, directed by Jodie Foster and starring Academy Award-winners George Clooney and Julia Roberts.
He has performed in Scarborough at the Royal Court, but Cat on a Hot Tin Roof in 2015 marked his first full-scale commercial West End run. He starred alongside Sienna Miller in a limited engagement at the Apollo Theatre.
