‘Mamma Mia!’ returns to Novello Theatre from August
At least we can visit a sunny Greek island while at the theatre.
After a year of suspended shows, Mamma Mia! will reopen at the Novello Theatre later this year. Mamma Mia! performances will resume from 25 August, continuing its West End run of over two decades.
In a tweet from Daily Mail entertainment reporter Baz Bamigboye, the Novello will return with Mamma Mia! starring Mazz Murray and Emma Mullen.
Murray will continue in the role of Donna Sheridan, previously playing the part before theatres were forced to shut in March 2020. As well as Mamma Mia!, Murray's West End credits include Chicago and We Will Rock You. Emma Mullen will make her West End debut as Sophie Sheridan, previously playing the role in the show's international tour.
Further casting for Mamma Mia! Is to be announced.
The ABBA jukebox musical follows Sophie as she prepares to marry her fiance, Sky. Dreaming of her father walking her down the aisle, Sophie invites all three potential men to discover the paternal truth without her mother knowing. Songs in Mamma Mia! include "Voulez Vous", "Take A Chance On Me" and "Dancing Queen".
Before Mamma Mia! resumes, the Shaftesbury Theatre will be home to ABBA-themed celebrations, with ABBA Mania from 21 May - 6 June.
Mamma Mia! is at the Novello Theatre from 25 August.
