‘ABBA Mania’ returns to West End for summer run at Shaftesbury Theatre
The Swedish supergroup tribute act first entertained audiences in 1998.
West End theatregoers can get their pop music fix as ABBA Mania returns to London. The ABBA-inspired production will run at the Shaftesbury Theatre from 21 May - 6 June, back in the West End for the first time in almost two decades.
Inspired by ABBA's best-selling songs, ABBA Mania is a celebration of the Swedish foursome: Agnetha Fältskog, Anni-Frid Lyngstad, Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson. Songs include "Dancing Queen", "The Winner Takes It All", "Super Trouper" and "Voulez Vous".
Casting for ABBA Mania includes Rhiannon Porter, JoJo Desmond, Edward Handoll and Loucas Hajiantoni. Cast member Rhiannon Porter said: I'm so excited to slip into my platform heels and transform into the incredible world of the pop supergroup we all know and love. After a year of silence on the West End, we can't wait to bring audiences the perfect tonic to the past year with a night of electrifying music, dancing and energy."
ABBA Mania was first performed in Cardiff in 1998, later touring the country until it found a West End home at the Strand Theatre (now the Novello Theatre) in 2002. Coincidentally, the ABBA musical Mamma Mia! Is now at the Novello Theatre, which is currently projecting a summer 2021 return date.
ABBA Mania is at the Shaftesbury Theatre from 21 May - 6 June.
