Lily Collins, Álvaro Morte to star in 'Barcelona' in the West End
Both actors will make their West End debuts in the play by Bess Wohl, which will play a strictly limited engagement at the Duke of York's Theatre this autumn.
Lily Collins and Álvaro Morte will star in the U.K. premiere of the play Barcelona in the West End. The play by Bess Wohl will run at the Duke of York's Theatre for 12 weeks only, from 21 October to 11 January.
Collins is a Golden Globe Award-nominated actress best known for her screen roles in the series Emily in Paris and the biopic Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile, both on Netflix, and the 2018 BBC miniseries adaptation of Les Misérables. Most recently, she starred in the horror film MAXXXINE.
Morte's film and theatre career began in Spain and has extended worldwide. He is best known for playing The Professor in the Netflix drama Money Heist and Logain in The Wheel of Time on Amazon.
Now, both Collins and Morte will make their West End debuts in Barcelona. In Bess Wohl's play, American tourist Irene (Collins) has a one-night stand with a handsome Spaniard (Morte) that soon leads to danger as the personal and political collide.
“It has been a childhood dream of mind to perform in the West End," Collins said in a statement. "Working with this team has truly been a gift and I cannot wait for audiences to be taken on a thrilling journey as the play unravels. I knew the moment I finished reading the script, I had to play Irene.”
“The London theatre scene is a vibrant and exhilarating canvas for fresh, groundbreaking work," Morte said in a statement. "I am thrilled and honoured to be a part of this captivating new play.”
