The full cast has been announced for Yaël Farber’s King Lear at the Almeida Theatre in London, which includes Fra Fee and The Wire’s Clarke Peters. It will open on 15 February.

They join the previously announced Danny Sapani (Hymn, Killing Eve), who will play the titular king in William Shakespeare’s tragedy.

Hugo Bolton, Oliver Cudbill, Edward Davis, Michael Gould, Akiya Henry, Geoffrey Lumb, Alec Newman, Gloria Obianyo, Faith Omole, Steffan Rizzi, and Matthew Tennyson complete the cast.

The production marks Farber’s return to Shakespeare, following her 2021 production of The Tragedy of Macbeth, which was also at the Almeida and starred four-time Oscar-nominated actor Saoirse Ronan and James McArdle.

The creative team includes Camilla Dely (costume designer), Merle Hensel (set designer), Peter Rice (sound designer), Lee Curran (lighting designer), Max Perryment (composer), Imogen Knight (movement director), Kate Waters (fight director), and Julia Horan CDG (casting director).

The production runs from 15 February until 30 March, with previews from 8 February.
