Luke Evans, who achieved international recognition through roles in Peter Jackson's The Hobbit trilogy, Disney's live-action Beauty and the Beast, and the television series The Alienist, began his career in London theatre. His most recent stage role was Billy in Backstairs Billy at the Duke of York's Theatre. His earlier notable roles included Roger in Rent Remixed and appearances in Miss Saigon, Piaf, and Taboo.
