Sandra Marvin and Le Gateau Chocolat to star in ‘Bagdad Cafe’ at Old Vic
Performances begin from 17 July.
The full cast for the upcoming world premiere of Bagdad Cafe has been announced. Ten cast members will take part in the Wise Children production, with in-person performances at the Old Vic from 17 July - 21 August and streaming from 25 - 28 August.
Set on Route 66, Bagdad Cafe follows Jasmin, a tourist who winds up at a remote motel after her marriage falls apart. No one would choose to stay at the Bagdad Cafe, but a new community forms, bound together by music and coffee. It's inspired by the 1987 movie of the same name, and is adapted by Percy and Eleonore Adlon.
The cast includes Sandra Marvin, who has previously played Becky in Waitress at the Adelphi Theatre. Le Gateau Chocolat also stars, previously in Sweet Charity at the Donmar Warehouse. Nandi Bhebhe, Bettrys Jones, Patrycja Kujawska, Nadine Lee, Kandaka Moore, Renell Shaw, Gareth Snook and Ewan Wardrop complete the line-up.
Bagdad Cafe was announced last week as part of the Old Vic's upcoming season. Other works include Camp Siegfried by Bess Wohl, A Number by Caryl Churchill and a revival of Into The Woods. Find out more about the Old Vic's reopening season here.
Bagdad Cafe is at the Old Vic from 17 July - 21 August.
