Samuel Bailey’s Shook to transfer to Trafalgar Studios
UPDATE: Shook was cancelled at Trafalgar Studios due to Coronavirus. A performance of Shook will be filmed in December 2020 and released early next year.
After beating over 1,400 entrants to win the 2019 Papatango New Writing Prize, Samuel Bailey's Shook will receive its West End transfer. Shook will be performed at Trafalgar Studio Two for a four-week engagement from April 2020.
Examining the consequences of locking up teenagers, Shook follows Grace, as she works with three teenagers as they await fatherhood. Aiming to inspire the young offenders, Grace works to change their futures in a play that assesses the criminal justice system.
Shook will run at Trafalgar Studio Two from 8th April, ahead of an official opening night on 14th April and performances to 9th May 2020.
Josef Davies, Josh Finan and Ivan Oyik will play the trio of teenagers Jonjo, Cain and Riad respectively. They will be joined by Andrea Hall as Grace, with all four cast members reprising their performances from the show's debut run at Southwark Playhouse and a subsequent 2019 tour.
Shook is directed by George Turvey, with scenic and costume design by Jasmine Swan, lighting design by Johanna Town and sound design by Richard Hammerton.
Ahead of the upcoming transfer, Turvey said: "We're thrilled to transfer Shook in Samuel Bailey and Papatango's West End premieres. After a record-breaking run at Southwark Playhouse and a national tour, it's a joy to revive this very special show and share it with a wider audience."
Shook is at Trafalgar Studio Two from 8th April.
Shook tickets are available now.
