Noma Dumezweni to star in new Disney adaptation of ‘The Little Mermaid’
She'll play a brand new character in the upcoming movie.
New casting for Disney's live-action adaptation of The Little Mermaid has been announced. The Harry Potter and the Cursed Child star Noma Dumezweni joins the production, playing a brand new role.
Details of Dumezweni's part in The Little Mermaid is currently unknown.
As well as playing Hermione Granger, she's also given an Olivier Award-winning performance in A Raisin in the Sun at Lyric Hammersmith. Notable theatre credits include Linda at the Royal Court and Alice in Henry V at the Noel Coward Theatre opposite Jude Law.
Dumezweni joins a cast including Halle Bailey as Ariel, Melissa McCarthy as Ursula, Javier Bardem as King Triton, Daveed Diggs as Sebastian, Awkwafina as Scuttle, Jacob Tremblay as Flounder and Jonah Hauer-King as Prince Eric.
As well as songs including "Part Of Your World" and "Under The Sea", The Little Mermaid will feature new music by Alan Menken and Lin-Manuel Miranda. All songs for The Little Mermaid have been recorded, according to reports.
A release date for The Little Mermaid is to be announced.
