Eddie Izzard’s ‘Great Expectations’ to transfer to the West End
The actor and comedian will play all 19 characters, including Miss Havisham, in the famous Charles Dickens play, running at the Garrick Theatre for six weeks.
Following performances in New York, comedian Suzy Eddie Izzard will perform a one-woman adaptation of Great Expectations in the West End. Great Expectations is at the Garrick Theatre from 24 May to 1 July.
Press material states Izzard will play “nineteen of the characters in a unique re-telling – a classic tale of convicts, mystery, friendship, rivalry, unrequited love, revenge, and redemption.” Izzard performed Great Expectations at Greenwich House Theater in 2022.
“I find the combination of Eddie Izzard’s idiosyncratic wit and Charles Dickens’ ingenious storytelling irresistible and am looking forward to sharing it with UK audiences,” said director Selina Cadell.
