The Play That Goes Wrong to reopen at Duchess Theatre
Mischief Theatre's Olivier Award-winning show will return to the West End.
UPDATE: The Play That Goes Wrong will now reopen at the Duchess Theatre, with performances from 9 December.
After West End theatres being closed, it has been announced today that The Play That Goes Wrong will reopen. Mischief Theatre creatives are rewriting and restaging sections of the play, in order for upcoming performances of The Play That Goes Wrong to comply with government guidelines.
Speaking about the play reopening, producers Kenny Wax and Stage Presence Ltd. said: "The Play That Goes Wrong has been a tonic for people's spirits since first appearing seven years ago... Laughter has the power to bring people together across all divides, reduces tensions and produces joy. And we know how lacking all of those have been these challenging past six months."
The Play That Goes Wrong follows the Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society as they rehearse their annual production. But, as they're gearing towards curtain-up, it becomes a monumental feat for these accident-prone thespians to be fully prepared.
The cast is completed by David Kirkbride as Robert, Ross Green as Chris, Ciara Morris as Annie, Milo Clarke as Max, Michael Keane as Dennis, Blayar Benn as Trevor, Elan James as Jonathan and Ellie Morris as Sandra.
First performed at the Duchess Theatre in September 2014, the play earned Mischief Theatre their first Olivier Award win. Since then, Mischief Theatre have become a leading company in London's theatre scene, with shows including Magic Goes Wrong, Groan Ups and The Comedy About a Bank Robbery.
As well as reopening in the West End, The Play That Goes Wrong will play a Christmas season at Theatre Royal Bath.
The Play That Goes Wrong is at the Duchess Theatre from 19 November.
