About Stereophonic

Be transported to a California recording studio in the mid-1970s to watch the creation of a highly-anticipated new record in Stereophonic. Book Stereophonic tickets on London Theatre.

The production had a record-breaking Broadway run, earning 13 Tony nominations, the most for any play ever. The five awards won include Best Play, Best Featured Actor, Best Direction, Best Scenic Design, and Best Sound Design of a Play. Now, Stereophonic comes to the West End's Duke of York's Theatre.

The audience becomes a fly on the wall as a nameless fictional rock band works on their sophomore record following their hit first album. On the cusp of stardom, tensions arise as they need to reach a compromise on what to cut off their too long record. This fictional drama is based on Fleetwood Mac and their fraught recording of Rumours.

Stereophonic in London stars original US cast members marking their London stage debuts– Andrew R Butler (Rags Parkland Sings The Songs Of The Future), Eli Gelb (Skintight, Indignation), and Chris Stack (Your Mother's Copy of the Kama Sutra, Marie Antoinette).

David Adjmi wrote the play over 10 years. As The Guardian's 5-star review said, "Stereophonic, one of Broadway's most striking plays of the season, is an allegory of industry greed and artistry. But the play, as a work itself, serves as a triumphant example of what happens when art has the time to develop, to home in on the basics of craft, character and spirit."

Stereophonic is a play with an expert creative team that includes director Daniel Aukin, original music by Arcade Fire's Will Butler, scenic designer David Zinn, costume designer Enver Chakartash, lighting designer Jiyoun Chang, orchestrations by Will Butler and Justin Craig, sound designer Ryan Rumery, and hair and wig designers Robert Pickens and Katie Gell.
