The Mousetrap's West End reopening to be postponed

Performances were due to resume at St. Martin's Theatre from 23 October 2020.

The Mousetrap's reopening at St. Martin's Theatre has been postponed, it was announced today. The world's longest-running show was due to recommence performances from 23 October 2020, however the reopening date has been pushed back, with future performance dates to be confirmed.

Speaking about the show's postponement, Adam Spiegel, the producer of The Mousetrap said: "In view of the current uncertainty and with greater restrictions looming for London, I have had to make the difficult decision to postpone the reopening of The Mousetrap. When we took the decision in July that the show would reopen, it was in anticipation of a gradual easing of restrictions in general."

"The government's announcement last week that the situation is deteriorating, together with increased restrictions being imposed across the country, makes it impossible to proceed with confidence... The Mousetrap will be back, and a new date to reopen will be announced as soon as there is a more certain environment and subject to government guidelines."

First performed in 1952, The Mousetrap has enjoyed a continuous run in the capital for over sixty years. So far, the Agatha Christie play has been performed 28,199 times, and over 10 million people have discovered the identity of the play's secret murderer.
