Further casting announced for final Sondheim musical 'Here We Are'
Inspired by two of Luis Buñuel’s films, Here We Are is the final musical by Stephen Sondheim and follows a group of guests at a dinner party.
Further casting has been announced for the UK premiere of Here We Are, which opens at the National Theatre in London on 23 April 2025.
Inspired by two of Luis Buñuel’s films – The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie and The Exterminating Angel – Here We Are is the final musical by Stephen Sondheim. It follows a group of guests at a dinner party, as they realise they’ve bitten off more than they can chew.
Joining this new production are Chumisa Dornford-May (Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812), Jesse Tyler Ferguson (Modern Family), Richard Fleeshman (Company), Harry Hadden-Paton (Downton Abbey), Cameron Johnson (Guys & Dolls), Jane Krakowski (30 Rock), Martha Plimpton (Sweat), and Paulo Szot (South Pacific).
They join the previously announced Tracie Bennett (Follies) and Denis O’Hare (Tartuffe), who reprise their roles from the 2023 New York premiere, and Rory Kinnear (No Time to Die).
The musical has a book by Tony Award nominee David Ives, direction by Tony Award winner Joe Mantello, set and costume design by David Zinn, choreography by Sam Pinkleton, orchestrations by Jonathan Tunick, additional arrangements by Alexander Gemignani, lighting design by Natasha Katz, and sound design by Tom Gibbons.
