‘Back to the Future’ moves West End opening date to August
Further casting has also been confirmed.
The West End premiere of Back To The Future: The Musical will now open later in the year, it has been announced. Back To The Future: The Musical will now begin performances at the Adelphi Theatre on 20 August, with further casting also named today.
Based on the 1980s sci-fi films, Back To The Future sees Marty McFly travelling through time in a modified DeLorean with his friend, Dr Emmett Brown. To save himself and return to the present day, Marty has to make sure his parents fall in love once more.
The musical features a book by Bob Gale, with music and lyrics by Alan Silvestri and Glen Ballard. There'll be an original soundtrack for Back To The Future: The Musical too, as well as famous songs from the film, including "Johnny B. Goode" and "The Power of Love".
Casting includes Olly Dobson as Marty McFly and Roger Bart as Dr. Emmett Brown. Hugh Coles plays George McFly, with Rosanna Hyland as Lorraine Baines, Cedric Neal as Goldie Wilson, Aidan Cutler as Biff Tannen, Courtney-Mae Briggs as Jennifer Parker, Will Haswell as Dave McFly, Emma Lloyd as Linda McFly and Mark Oxtoby as Strickland.
Ensemble members include Rhianne Alleyne, Amy Barker, Matt Barrow, Joshua Clemetson, Jamal Crawford, Bessy Ewa, Ryan Heenan, Cameron McAllister, Alessia McDermott, Laura Mullowney, Nic Myers, Shane O'Riordan, Katharine Pearson, Oliver Tester and Justin Thomas.
Back To The Future: The Musical had a world premiere at Manchester Opera House in March 2020, but was forced to close early due to the pandemic. The musical was originally scheduled to make its London premiere at the Adelphi Theatre in summer 2020, but has now been pushed back by a year.
Back To The Future: The Musical is at the Adelphi Theatre from 20 August.
