Georgina Varley

Georgina Varley was born in Tonbridge, Kent. At the age of 17, she won Kingston College's 2012/2013 One ACT Playwriting Competition for students in the South East and Greater London with her play Letting Go. Set during World War One, Letting Go explores the traumatic effects that war can have upon the friendships of young people. In 2013, while studying English at the University of Nottingham, she directed the same play and received a 4 star review from Impact Magazine, The University of Nottingham's student newspaper. Continuing her playwriting, Georgina placed 6th in the Player Playwrights International DANGER competition in 2015, and was shortlisted for Brave New Word's LEGACY competition in 2017.

Whilst at university, Georgina acted as reviews editor for an online magazine, reviewing shows at the Nottingham New Theatre, Nottingham Lakeside Arts Theatre, and Nottingham Playhouse. Georgina completed work experience placements at The Stage and Penguin Random House before graduating in 2016 with a First Class degree. After university, she completed an editorial internship at the Financial Times, acted as assistant reviews editor to Rosemary Waugh for Exeunt Magazine and worked as a freelance reporter for City AM. She joined Encore Tickets in July 2017, contributing to LondonTheatre.co.uk as part of her job.
