As part of Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations to mark the monarch’s 70 years on the throne, a variety of concerts took place in London. During the Platinum Party at the Palace on 4 June, musical theatre composers Andrew Lloyd Webber and Lin-Manuel Miranda duetted alongside one another, before a West End musical medley.

The duet began with Lloyd Webber performing new lyrics to “King Herod’s Song” from Jesus Christ Superstar. Then, Miranda sung new lyrics to “You’ll Be Back” from Hamilton.

Following the pair singing, they introduced the cast of Hamilton, who performed “Wait For It” led by Olivier-winning actor Giles Terera as Aaron Burr.

The Platinum Jubilee musical medley included Killian Donnelly and Lucy St. Louis performing the title song from The Phantom of the Opera, The Lion King company performing “Circle of Life,” the Six queens performing an “Ex-Wives” and “Six” mashup, and then Jason Donovan leading the Joseph and the Amazing Technicolored Dreamcoat company with “Any Dream Will Do/Give Me My Colored Coat.” Find out more about the Platinum Party at the Palace acts.

Even though the Platinum Jubilee celebrations are officially over, you can still honour the queen’s 70-year reign at the theatre. The Mousetrap began London performances in 1952, the same year Queen Elizabeth II was crowned. Here’s how to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee in the West End.
