‘The Nutcracker’ to return for special production at the London Coliseum
Nutcracker Delights will bring the traditional ballet to the West End this Christmas.
Inspired by the long-running tradition of The Nutcracker at the London Coliseum, the English National Ballet will return with a brand new production. Titled Nutcracker Delights, the world-renowned ballet company will perform iconic scenes and sections for four weeks, from 3 Dec. 2020 - 3 Jan. 2021.
This year's production of Nutcracker Delights replaces cancelled performances of The Nutcracker at the London Coliseum.
The Christmas classic follows Clara as she's given a Nutcracker doll for Christmas. Immediately transported to a fictitious, magical world, Clara travels through the Land of Sweets and meets the Mouse King all before Christmas Day. Nutcracker Delights will combine moments from the ballets along with Tchaikovsky's score, including the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy.
Tamara Rojo CBE, English National Ballet's artistic director said: "English National Ballet has performed a version of The Nutcracker every year since we were founded in 1950 and I'm so pleased that, despite the challenges faced, we have been able to find a way for the tradition to live on, in this, our 70th Anniversary year. It's more important than ever that we are able to bring audiences some festive joy this Christmas."
Nutcracker Delights is at the London Coliseum from 3 Dec. 2020 - 3 Jan. 2021.
