‘The Comeback’ by The Pin to return to Noël Coward Theatre
The Pin's debut West End show was originally cut short by the pandemic.
The Comeback lives up to its name, as it returns to the West End this summer. Performances will resume at the Noël Coward Theatre from 7 - 25 July, where it originally premiered in December 2020. The Comeback tickets are on sale now.
The Comeback marks the debut play from British comedy duo Ben Ashenden and Alex Owen, collectively known as The Pin. In their play, they star as the warm-up spot for a rival act, trying to get noticed by a Hollywood director. Each night, the cast are joined by a surprise celebrity guest star, who will play a cameo role in the production.
Emily Burns directs The Comeback, previously working with The Pin in 2018 for their production, Backstage. Burns has also been associate director for Hansard and Antony & Cleopatra at the National Theatre, as well as A Midsummer Night's Dream and Julius Caesar at the Bridge Theatre.
The Comeback began its West End run on 8 December, but was forced to close a week later. In a review for LondonTheatre.co.uk, Matt Wolf said: this sweet if slight 90-minute evening of comedy... exists in the tradition of madcap West End entertainments like The Play What I Wrote... we await the comeback for The Comeback that surely lies in wait."
