The Royal Shakespeare Company will return to the Barbican this Christmas with a new production of The Comedy of Errors. Following performances in Stratford-upon-Avon this summer and a national tour, The Comedy of Errors is at the Barbican from 16 November - 31 December.

Shakespeare's farce sees individuals confused at their whereabouts, where mistaken identities and seeing double is the order of the day. A father ends up in the wrong country, a brother looks out for his long-lost win and a wife realises her husband is a different man, but can anything be the same again?

The Comedy of Errors is directed by Phillip Breen. Breen has previously directed a production of The Merry Wives of Windsor for the RSC in 2012.

The cast is completed by Toyin Ayedun-Alase, Jonathan Broadbent, Antony Bunsee, Alfred Clay, Hedydd Dylan, William Grint, Greg Haiste, Avita Jay, Zoe Lambert, Guy Lewis, Dyfrig Morris, Baker Mukasa, Patrick Osborne, Rowan Polonski, Nicholas Prasad, Riad Richie and Sarah Seggari.

The role of Adrianna will be shared between Hedydd Dylan and Naomi Sheldon, with Hedydd Dylan leaving the production mid-run to have her baby. Naomi will take over for the show's Barbican run. On joining the company, Sheldon said: "Playing Adrianna as pregnant not only has personal poignancy for me as a new mother of twins, but also adds new complexity and comedy to the role which this production explores so richly. I'm delighted to be job sharing with a mother to be, and this way of working feels very hopeful for working mothers in this industry."

The Comedy of Errors is designed by Max Jones, with lighting by Tina MacHugh, music by Paddy Cunneen, sound by Dyfan Jones and movement by Charlotte Broom.

The RSC are also at the Gielgud Theatre in 2021, with The Mirror and the Light from 23 September. The Mirror and the Light tickets are on sale now. Find out more about RSC shows in London here.
