Moulin Rouge! The Musical to transfer to the Piccadilly Theatre in 2021
Currently wowing audiences on Broadway, Moulin Rouge! The Musical will transfer to the West End, opening at the Piccadilly Theatre in March 2021, it has been announced.
Based on Baz Luhrmann's 2001 film of the same name starring Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor, Moulin Rouge! The Musical follows the relationship between a young, lovesick writer named Christian and Satine, a cabaret actress and singer at the Moulin Rouge. The jukebox musical features a mix of original songs originally written for the film including 'Come What May' as well as mash-up songs by pop artists including Madonna, Katy Perry and Sia.
Moulin Rouge! The Musical will run at the Piccadilly Theatre from March 2021, with ticket information and on-sale dates announced soon.
The world premiere of Moulin Rouge! The Musical was staged at the Emerson Colonial Theatre in Boston for a limited engagement, later transferring to Broadway where it officially opened on 25th July 2019.
Casting for the West End production of Moulin Rouge! The Musical is unknown, however the Broadway cast currently stars Aaron Tveit as Christian, Karen Olivo as Satine and Danny Burstein as Harold Zidler, the owner of the Moulin Rouge.
Moulin Rouge! The Musical features a book by John Logan, scenic design by Derek McLane and costume design by Catherine Zuber.
