'The Pillowman’, starring Steve Pemberton, announces further West End casting

Steve Pemberton and Lily Allen will lead the West End premiere of the Olivier Award-winning play about a writer at the Duke of York’s Theatre in summer 2023.

Ahead of the West End premiere of Martin McDonagh's The Pillowman, find out more about the new cast members. The Pillowman begins previews at the Duke of York’s Theatre on 10 June, ahead of an opening night on 21 June, and performances to 2 September.

The Pillowman play follows Katurian, a writer who is put under surveillance when their fictional stories match up with local child murders. McDonagh's drama won Best New Play at the 2004 Olivier Awards, and later transferred to Broadway in 2005.

McDonagh’s 2022 film, The Banshees Of Inisherin, won Best Original Screenplay at this year’s BAFTA ceremony. Find out more about Martin McDonagh.

Matthew Dunster directs Lily Allen as Katurian, Steve Pemberton as Tupolski, Paul Kaye as Ariel, and Matthew Tennyson as Michal.

The creative team includes Anna Fleischle (set and costume design,) Neil Austin (lighting design,) and Ian Dickinson for Autograph (sound design.)

The Pillowman is at the Duke of York’s Theatre.
