‘Magic Goes Wrong’ conjures up new West End home at the Apollo Theatre
The Mischief Theatre play moves location from 21 October.
Magic Goes Wrong will now be reopening in London at a new theatre. Magic Goes Wrong is now resuming performances at the Apollo Theatre, instead of the Vaudeville Theatre. Magic Goes Wrong is at the Apollo Theatre from 21 October.
Magic Goes Wrong sees a hapless gang of magicians and stuntmen try to impress crowds while raising money at a charity fundraiser. But, in true 'Goes Wrong' style, these accident-prone performance artists don't make the tricks go right first time.
The Mischief Theatre team collaborated with American magicians Penn & Teller for the tricks and illusions seen in Magic Goes Wrong. Casting for Magic Goes Wrong at the Apollo Theatre is to be announced at a later date.
Magic Goes Wrong was first seen at the Vaudeville Theatre in 2019 as part of a residency. Even though it ran for just three months, the comedy play was nominated for Best Entertainment or Comedy at the 2020 Olivier Awards. The Vaudeville Theatre will now be home to Six from 29 September. In a review for LondonTheatre.co.uk, Mark Shenton said: "[Magic Goes Wrong] is kept buoyant by the unabashed physicality of the actors and their total investment in living in the chaos created."
Mischief Theatre's debut West End play, The Play That Goes Wrong, continues to run at the Duchess Theatre. The Play That Goes Wrong tickets are on sale now.
