‘Life of Pi’ announces new cast and sets West End closing date
The Olivier-winning play will close in the West End in January 2023.
Life of Pi will play its final West End performance at the Wyndham’s Theatre on 15 Jan. 2023. A new Life of Pi cast will take over from 7 September for the show’s final four months. Book Life of Pi tickets on London Theatre.
Nuwan Hugh Perera will take over the role of Pi from 7 September. Perera is currently the alternate Pi in Life of Pi. Chirag Benedict Lobo will be the alternate Pi.
From 7 September, the Life of Pi cast includes Davina Moon as Ma, Ameet Chana as Father, Tanvi Virmani as Rani, Saikat Ahamad as Mamaji/Pandit-Ji, Sakuntala Ramanee as Mrs Biology Kumar/Zaida Khan, Kevin Shen as Mr Okamoto, Phyllis Ho as Lulu Chen, Kazeem Tosin Amore as Cook/Voice of Richard Parker, Owain Gwynn as Puppeteer, Lilian Tsang and Mohit Mathur. Original West End cast members include Tom Espiner as Father Martin/Commander Grant-Jones and puppeteers: Daisy Franks, Romina Hytten, Tom Larkin, Chris Milford and Tom Stacy.
Based on Yann Martel’s award-winning novel of the same name, Life of Pi follows a sixteen-year-old boy who recalls the tragic events of being a shipwreck’s sole human survivor. Find out more about Life of Pi in London.
The Life of Pi play won five Olivier Awards earlier this year, including Best New Play, Best Actor, Best Actor in a Supporting Role, Best Set Design and Best Lighting Design.
Max Webster directs Life of Pi. Set and costume design is Tim Hatley, with puppet movement and design by Finn Caldwell and Nick Barnes, lighting design by Tim Lutkin, and sound design by Carolyn Downing.
