Kevin Clifton to star in The Wedding Singer musical in London
Kevin Clifton is set to star in the musical adaptation of the Adam Sandler film The Wedding Singer when it comes to London next year.
Clifton - a Strictly Come Dancing professional who has previously appeared in Dirty Dancing and Rock of Ages - will play Robbie Hart, as we learn about his profession, his failed relationships and his new romances.
The show has music by Matthew Sklar and lyrics by Chad Beguelin, and a book by Beguelin and Tim Herlihy, and premiered on Broadway in 2006 before making its UK debut with a tour in 2008. It returned to tour the UK again in 2017.
Sklar and Beguelin, who also wrote Elf the Musical and The Prom together while the latter of the pair also write the book for Disney's Aladdin, have written a score which includes songs such as "Saturday Night in the City", "All About the Green", "It's Your Wedding Day" and "If I Told You".
The Wedding Singer will now run at the Troubadour Wembley Park from 30th January to 1st March, with tickets now on sale.
Further casting for the production is yet to be announced.
