Hilary Mantel’s The Mirror and the Light’ to receive West End premiere at Gielgud Theatre
The Royal Shakespeare Company adaptation is the final play in the Wolf Hall trilogy.
The Mirror and the Light will receive its West End premiere later this year, completing Hilary Mantel's Wolf Hall trilogy of works presented on stage. The Mirror and the Light is at the Gielgud Theatre from 23 September - 28 November.
Set in Tudor England, Henry VIII is relying on his third wife, Jane Seymour for a male heir. At the same time, Thomas Cromwell is rising in the ranks. But, Cromwell must be ready for enemies to attack at any moment.
Ben Miles will reprise the role of Thomas Cromwell, previously playing the English statemen in Wolf Hall and Bring Up the Bodies at the Aldwych Theatre. Nathaniel Parker will return to the Wolf Hall trilogy, reprising his Olivier Award-winning performance as Henry VIII.
Jeremy Herrin directs, with scenic and costume design by Christopher Oram and music by Stephen Warbeck. Further casting for The Mirror and the Light is to be announced.
The Mirror and the Light is the third and final book in Hilary Mantel's Wolf Hall trilogy, published in 2020. The novel was shortlisted for the 2020 Women's Prize for Fiction.
The Mirror and the Light is at the Gielgud Theatre from 23 September.
