Harry Hill’s ‘Tony! [The Tony Blair Rock Opera]' to return to London
The political musical begins a nationwide tour.
As part of a nationwide tour, the Tony Blair musical, Tony! [The Tony Blair Rock Opera] will return to London. Tony! is at Leicester Square Theatre from 15 April to 21 May.
The musical details Tony Blair’s life both pre and post-politics, and how he became a pop star to the Labour leader. Tony! features political characters including Princess Diana, John Prescott, George W. Bush and Gordon Brown. The musical premiered at Park Theatre earlier this year.
“It’s a show for Tony Lovers and Haters everywhere - and everyone in between - don’t expect a history lesson - in our world Tony's born singing and dancing, Saddam Hussein is played as Groucho Marx and Gordon Brown occasionally turns into the Incredible Hulk - let’s just say all the facts are there... but not necessarily as they occurred!”, said creators Harry Hill and Steve Brown.
Peter Rowe directs Jack Whittle, Howard Samuels, Tori Burgess, Phil Sealey, Martin Johnston, Rosie Strobel, Sally Cheng, Emma Jay Thomas, and William Hazell. The show features set and costume design by Libby Watson, lighting design by Mark Dymock and choreography by Francesca Jaynes.
Tony! [The Tony Blair Rock Opera] is at Leicester Square Theatre.
