‘Hair’ concerts to transfer to London Palladium in June
The musical concerts were staged at the Turbine on the Jetty season last summer.
Following a limited engagement of Hair at the Turbine on the Jetty last year, the musical concerts will now transfer to the West End. Two Hair concerts will take place at the London Palladium on 13 June, with two further performances scheduled in Southampton.
Celebrating 1960s counterculture, Hair follows a group of free-spirited individuals as they join in protest and song under the shadow of the Vietnam War. First performed at London's Shaftesbury Theatre in 1968, Hair has since been revived twice in the West End, with upcoming concerts marking the musical's return after a decade.
Casting for Hair concerts includes Luke Bayer, Nicole Raquel Dennis, Grace Mouat, Millie O'Connell, Jodie Steele and Layton Williams. Tom Francis joins the Hair cast, taking over from Jordan Luke Gage who has had to leave the production due to scheduling conflicts.
The upcoming Hair concerts will be directed by Arlene Phillips, whose West End directorial credits include Saturday Night Fever, as well as choreographing We Will Rock You, Grease and Jesus Christ Superstar. Hair features a book by Gerome Ragni and James Rado, with music by Galt McDermot including "Aquarius" "Good Morning, Starshine" "Hair" and "Let The Sun Shine."
