Golda Rosheuvel and Letitia Wright to star in Bush Theatre's 2025/26 season
The 2025/26 season opens with Danny James King’s Miss Myrtle’s Garden, which follows an elderly woman in a rapidly changing neighbourhood, who is contending with ghosts from her past.
The Bush Theatre has announced its next season of work, which runs until early 2026 and will also be the final season programmed by outgoing Artistic Director Lynette Linton. She will be succeeded by Taio Lawson next summer.
In the main house, Danny James King’s Miss Myrtle’s Garden will run from 31 May to 12 July and follows an elderly woman in a rapidly changing neighbourhood, who is contending with ghosts from her past. It will be directed by the Bush’s new Artistic Director Lawson.
This will be followed by Will Jackson's Make Me Feel, presented by the Bush Young Company, which includes playwrights Coral Wylie and Azan Ahmed among its alumni.
Superwoman Schema will run from 6 September to 25 October and explores the struggle of two women following the death of their matriarch. The show will be directed by Linton and stars Golda Rosheuvel and Letitia Wright.
The year will end with After Sunday, running from 1 November to 20 December. Written by Sophia Griffin, the show is set in a Caribbean cooking class in a secure hospital.
Sweetmeats, a co-production with Tara Arts, opens 2026 and follows two South Asian elders who meet in a Type 2 diabetes workshop and embark a new forbidden love. Heart Wall will run from 4 April until 16 May, and delves into the challenges of growing up when returning home as an adult. The new play is written by Bush Writer’s Group alumni Kit Withington.
In the Studio, the Bush will host a series of shows by new and established theatremakers, including Insane Asylum Seekers by Laith Elzubaidi, Horse of Jenin by Alaa Shehada, Maggots by Farah Najib, and I'm Not Being Funny by Piers Black.
Linton said, "At a time when finances are being increasingly squeezed we recognise the importance of the arts and are determined to push through with a season on new writing and community engagement. The fact that we can attract writers and performers of such calibre, shows a need to tell stories and that the industry is pulling together in this aim. Our new season boasts new talent, as well as established artists, co-productions with some of the most exciting companies in the UK as well as new work from our outstanding Bush Young Company.
"Running the Bush Theatre for the last six years has been one of the biggest honours of my life and I am so proud of all the incredible artists who have passed through the building. Dan and I wanted to disrupt the canon, and I believe we have done just that with over 50 productions from the most incredible British and Irish writers! We have put together a wonderful last season, with more £15 tickets than ever, and I can’t wait to see all these wonderful artists grace the legendary Bush stage…also big up to the new Artistic Director, Taio! I can’t wait to witness Bush Theatre’s new chapter."
