‘Gatsby: A Musical’ livestreamed concert revival coming to Cadogan Hall
The critically-acclaimed musical returns for three nights.
A digital concert production of Gatsby: A Musical will be available to watch online next month, it has been announced. Filmed at Cadogan Hall, audiences can stream the production from 12 - 14 February.
Inspired by the F. Scott Fitzgerald novel, the production is set seven years after events in The Great Gatsby. Daisy Buchanan confronts her past by revisiting Jay Gatsby's mansion, but is unable to find him. The Great Gatsby was adapted by director Linnie Reedman, featuring music and lyrics by Joe Evans.
Speaking about the musical's modern day pertinence, Reedman said: "Gatsby has become, over the years, synonymous with glamour, glitz and parties. What a lot of people forget, however, is that the 'Roaring Twenties' came immediately after a World War. And a global pandemic. It was a period of upheaval and great change. I think the story of a crushed American dream, juxtaposed against individual hope and optimism is essentially pertinent today."
Casting for Gatsby: A Musical concerts includes Spandau Ballet member Ross William Wild as Jay Gatsby, previously seen as Elvis Presley in Million Dollar Quartet. Charlotte Wakefield will play Daisy Buchanan.
Emma Williams, Mark Antolin, Blake Patrick Anderson, Chanice Alexander-Burnett, Lauren Chinery, Robert Grose, Oliver Mawdsley, Tristan Pegg and Marc Rhys complete casting.
