*2:22 A Ghost Story* in London is the first play written by Danny Robins, the creator of the award-nominated BBC podcasts *Uncanny* and *The Battersea Poltergeist*. The show was an instant sensation, with record-breaking seasons at the Noël Coward, Gielgud, Criterion, The Lyric Theatre, and The Apollo Theatre. 

The talented creative team behind the play includes directors Isabel Marr (*John Gabriel Borkman*) and Matthew Dunster (*The Seagull, A Very Very Very Dark Matter*), Olivier-winning set designer Anna Fleischle (*Hangmen*), and illusions by Chris Fisher (*Back To The Future: The Musical, Company*).

Ian Dickinson (*Angels In America, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time*) is the Olivier-winning and Tony-nominated sound designer for *2:22 A Ghost Story*.

As writer [Danny Robins said](https://theface.com/culture/2-22-a-ghost-story-west-end-cult-classic-jenny-cheryl-lily-allen-sophia-bush-danny-robins), "I wanted to create this thing that felt like an event…I like a big night out [where you] laugh, jump out your seats, scream, accidentally spill your drink on your mate – and then go off talking about it into the night. Most of our audiences are under 35, and I think a lot of them are people that haven't seen a play before. I love that."
- The play went across the pond to the United States, where it had its debut in 2022 in Los Angeles and then moved to Boston. It starred Constance Wu as Jenny, Anna Camp as Lauren, Adam Rothenberg as Sam, and Finn Wittrock as Ben.

**How to get to the venue:** Located at Shaftesbury Avenue, one of the easiest methods of reaching is by Tube. The closest station is Piccadilly Circus on the Bakerloo and Piccadilly lines. There are also many bus routes which stop close to the theatre making it easily accessible from all parts of the city. For those driving, a nearby Q-Park Theatreland car parking facility is available, though the theatre encourages use of public transport due to high congestion in the area.

Gielgud Theatre - TodayTix

The Gielgud Theatre opened on 27 Dec. 1906, and was built for Seymour Hicks. The Gielgud was built as a pair with the [Sondheim Theatre](https://www.londontheatre.co.uk/theatres/sondheim-theatre).

The house was renamed the Globe Theatre in 1909 by its new manager, Charles Frohman from America. It was known as the Globe Theatre for the next 85 years until a 1994 name change to avoid confusion with [Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre](https://www.londontheatre.co.uk/theatres/shakespeares-globe-theatre) on the South Bank. It was then that the theatre received its current name, the Gielgud.

## Gielgud Theatre Seating Information

The auditorium has three levels – Stalls, Dress Circle and Grand Circle.

The Stalls offers very good sightlines with each row being offset from the one in front. The overhang of the Dress Circle becomes apparent from Row R onwards.

The Dress Circle doesn’t have a strong rake. The stage is not obstructed by the overhang of the Upper Circle.

The Upper Circle seats offer good legroom. The seats curve inwards towards the stage.
