First look: See Al Murray and Mel Giedroyc in ‘The Crown Jewels’ photos
The pair will play Charles II and a French noblewoman in the raucous comedy. Sean Foley directs the world premiere of Simon Nye’s play at the Garrick Theatre.
Ahead of The Crown Jewels in London, see Al Murray and Mel Giedroyc in an early look at the show. The Crown Jewels starts previews at the Garrick Theatre on 7 July, with an opening night on 19 July, and performances to 16 September.
Al Murray will play the “merry monarch” King Charles II. Mel Giedroyc will play an unnamed French noblewoman. The pair will also double up as Talbot and Mrs. Edwards, keepers of the Crown Jewels.
Carrie Hope Fletcher, Joe Thomas, Neil Morrissey, Aidan McArdle, and Tanvi Virmani also star.
The Crown Jewels play follows Colonel Blood as he plans to steal the Crown Jewels in the Tower of London. Simon Nye writes the original book, based on the 1671 heist, and Sean Foley directs.
The Crown Jewels will be at the Garrick Theatre.
