‘Everybody’s Talking About Jamie’ sets official London reopening date
The British musical will return to the Apollo Theatre from 12 Dovember.
Following the previous announcement that Everybody's Talking About Jamie will return on 12 November, the musical will now open on 12 December. Everybody's Talking About Jamie will now play eight performances a week from Wednesday to Sunday, and will be the first full-book musical to reopen in the West End, ahead of the show's 1000th performance.
Speaking about the musical's return, producer Nica Burns said: "Like everyone else in the UK, year 11 at Mayfield High School is back to school and coping with COVID-19 and the challenges of personalising their facemasks within school rules..."
The cast will star Noah Thomas as Jamie, who just won the Best Actor in a Musical at the 2020 Black British Theatre Awards. Melissa Jacques plays Margaret New, with Sejal Keshwala as Ray, Hiba Elchikhe as Pritti Pasha, Gillian Ford as Miss Hedge and Phil Nicol as Hugo/Loco Chanelle.
Casting is completed by Alexander Archer, Zion Battles, Marlon G. Day, James Gillan, Zahra Jones, Emily Kenwright, Keenan Knight, Jordan Laviniere, Garry Lee, David O'Reilly, Harriet Payne, Jordan Ricketts and Rachel Seiran.
A film adaptation of Everybody's Talking About Jamie will be released in cinemas on 26 Feb. 2021. The cast stars Max Harwood as Jamie, with Richard E. Grant as Hugo/Loco Chanelle and you can watch the trailer here.
