Divina de Campo to star in ‘The Spongebob Musical’ cast
The musical will tour the UK, including a London premiere at Queen Elizabeth Hall.
It’s a Bikini Bottom day! Find out the initial cast for The Spongebob Musical at Queen Elizabeth Hall. The Spongebob Musical runs from 26 July to 27 August.
Inspired by the Nickoledeon series of the same name, The Spongebob Musical follows the citizens of Bikini Bottom as they save their undersea world from a volcano.
Divina De Campo will play Sheldon J. Plankton. Since competing on RuPaul’s Drag Race, they've starred in Chicago and Hedwig and the Angry Inch.
The cast includes Lewis Cornay as SpongeBob, Irfan Damani as Patrick, Chrissie Bhima as Sandy, Richard J Hunt as Mr Krabs, Sarah Freer as Pearl, Eloise Davies as Mrs Puff, Hannah Lowther as Karen, Rebecca Lisewski as Mayor, Sam Beveridge, Jeremiah Olaleye, Eleanor Turiansky, Rhys Batten and Reece Kerridge.
Gareth Gates will play Squidward on select dates of the tour. Currently, this does not include London.
The Spongebob Musical features an original book by Kyle Jarrow and songs by Yolanda Adams, Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith, Sara Bareilles, Jonathan Coulton, Alex Ebert of Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, The Flaming Lips, Lady A, Cyndi Lauper, John Legend, Panic! At the Disco, Plain White T’s, They Might Be Giants and T.I. and songs by David Bowie, Tom Kenny and Andy Paley.
Tara Overfield Wilkinson directs, with choreography by Fabian Aloise, set design by Steve Howell, costume design by Sarah Mercade, lighting and video design by Ben Bull, and sound design by Ben Harrison.
