David Hunter and Joanna Woodward to lead ‘The Time Traveller’s Wife: The Musical’
The musical premieres in Chester ahead of a West End transfer.
The 2009 film, The Time Traveller’s Wife, will be adapted into a musical and premiere later this year. The Time Traveller’s Wife: The Musical premieres at Storyhouse in Chester from 30 September to 15 October, with a future West End transfer. Details on The Time Traveller’s Wife: The Musical in the West End will be revealed at a later date.
The Time Traveller’s Wife: The Musical follows the asynchronous love story of Henry and Clare as they’re ripped out of time due to Henry’s rare condition. He’s pulled into the past and future at unexpected moments, and Clare constantly dreams of her time-travelling husband.
David Hunter will play Henry. He previously starred in Waitress and Kinky Boots at the Adelphi Theatre, and Once at the Phoenix Theatre. Joanna Woodward will play Clare. She previously understudied the role of Vivian Ward in Pretty Woman: The Musical at the Savoy Theatre.
The Time Traveller’s Wife: The Musical cast features Aisha Davis as Dr Kendrick, Ross Dawes as Henry’s Dad, Hiba Elchikhe as Charisse, Stevie Hutchinson as Clare’s Dad, Tim Mahendran as Gomez, Sorelle Marsh as Henry’s Mum, Benjamin Purkiss as Jason / Mark and Alwyne Taylor as Old Clare. The actresses playing Young Clare will be announced shortly.
Joss Stone and Dave Stewart co-compose original music and lyrics for The Time Traveller’s Wife: The Musical. The musical features a book by Lauren Gunderson, direction by Bill Buckhurst, design by Anna Fleischle, choreography by Shelley Maxwell, lighting design by Lucy Carter, and sound design by Richard Brooker.
The Time Traveller’s Wife: The Musical will open in the West End at a later date.
