Anoushka Lucas’s solo show Elephant will play at the Menier Chocolate Factory in London from 22 May for a limited season, following two previous runs at the Bush Theatre.

The reimagined new production is described as "part gig, part musical love story, part journey through Empire", exploring identity in 21st-century Britain.

In a review for LondonTheatre.co.uk, our critic said of the Bush Theatre run: "Anoushka Lucas’s playwriting debut Elephant, featuring her own compositions, is an autobiographical piece about a character/avatar called Lylah and her love for the piano; a journey toward a room and a piano of one’s own while considering the colonialist history of the instrument. Lest that sound a bit worthy, it’s executed with the lightest of touches."

Lucas’s previous stage credits include the 2019 Daniel Fish adaptation of Oklahoma! and, more recently, A Face in the Crowd opposite Ramin Karimloo at the Young Vic and Rhinoceros at the Almeida Theatre.

Directed by Jess Edwards, Elephant's creative team also includes designer Georgia Wilmot, lighting designer Laura Howard, sound designer Xana and video designer Gillian Tan.
