Born in Bristol in 1997, Margaret Constance “Maisie” Williams, known as Maisie Williams, attended Clutton Primary School and Norton Hill School, before moving to Bath Dance College to study Performing Arts.
Williams made her professional debut in 2011, landing the role of Arya Stark of Winterfell in HBO television series Game of Thrones. Working with a star-studded cast such as Kit Harington and Richard Madden, Williams was nominated for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series at every Screen Actors Guild award ceremony since 2012.
Other credits include her performance of Lydia in The Falling as well as appearing in Cyberbully, a docu-drama for Channel 4. In 2015, Williams guest starred in four episodes of Doctor Who as Ashildr, alongside Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman as the Doctor and Assistant.
She made her theatre debut in Lauren Gunderson’s I and You at the Hampstead Theatre.
