'Winnie the Pooh: The New Musical Adaptation' to have London premiere in 2023
The show previously ran to acclaim in the U.S.
The Hundred Acre Wood is coming to London! The Disney musical Winnie the Pooh: The New Musical Adaptation is set to have its U.K. premiere in spring 2023, with performance dates, casting, and a theatre to be announced.
Winnie the Pooh: The New Musical Adaptation is based on the books by A.A. Milne and the Disney films and TV series. All the beloved characters from those stories — Pooh, Eeyore, Piglet, Tigger, and more — go on a new adventure in this show. The characters come alive on stage with life-size puppetry.
The musical also features the Sherman Brothers' Grammy Award-winning songs from the Winnie the Pooh animated movies, along with new songs written for the musical by Nate Edmondson.
Winnie the Pooh: The New Musical Adaptation is created by Jonathan Rockefeller, who also created the children's shows The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Paddington Gets in a Jam, with similar puppetry.
The Winnie the Pooh musical previously premiered in New York in fall 2021, coming back for an encore engagement in summer 2022 after receiving widespread praise. A five-star review on New York Theatre Guide called Winnie the Pooh: The New Musical Adaptation "an hour of bountiful joy" and reads, "One actually feels as if they are standing within the world of Pooh’s picture books."
