In the week Hamilton finally opens in the West End, revisit the moment the shows creator Lin-Manuel Miranda perform an early version of the song "Alexander Hamilton" for former president Barack Obama.

The performance occurred in May 2009, six years before Hamilton opened on Broadway, at a White House Poetry Jam. Miranda was invited to perform songs from In The Heights, which was running in New York at the time, but decided to showcase a new song from the show he was working on at the time: Hamilton.

After the opened in New York, Miranda was invited back to the White House to perform for the president with the cast of the musical.

The first international production of Hamilton opens in London at the Victoria Palace Theatre on 21st December, and it is currently in previews.
