Stockard Channing returns to the West End in Apologia at Trafalgar Studios directed by Jamie Lloyd
The Grease star returns to the West End.
It has been announced that Tony and Emmy award-winner Stockard Channing will return to the West End in a new production of Alexi Kate Campbell's Apologia, directed by Jamie Lloyd. The production will run at the Trafalgar Studios from 29 July to 18 November 2017.
"Kristin Miller is a firebrand liberal matriarch and eminent art historian. In her cottage, deep in the English countryside, a birthday gathering should be a time of celebration but the cracks in her family relationships are brought to the surface by the recent publication of her memoir. As the evening progresses, Kristin's family and friends, and ultimately Kristin herself begin to question her achievements and choices and if they were indeed worth the sacrifice."
Apologia originally ran at the Bush Theatre in West London in 2009 and was Campbell's second play following the Olivier Award-winning The Pride, which also ran at Trafalgar Studios.
Alexi Kaye Campbell's other works include The Pride, Sunset at The Villa Thalia at the National Theatre and The Faith Machine at the Royal Court. Jamie Lloyd returns to Trafalgar Studios after recent productions of The Maids, The Ruling Class and Macbeth.
Stockard Channing is best known for playing Rizzo in the film version of 'Grease' in 1978. Her screen credits include 'The West Wing' and she has been nominated 13 times for Primetime Emmy Awards. Her work on stage has seen her nominated for seven Tony Awards, winning the award for Best Actress in a Play for the Broadway revival of A Day in the Death of Joe Egg in 1985. Other Broadway credits include Other Desert Cities, the musical Pal Joey and It's Only a Play.
Further cast and creative team for Apologia are to be announced.
