Rachel York to follow Sutton Foster in 'Anything Goes' in the West End
The musical is currently playing at the Barbican Centre.
Times have changed! IRachel York will replace Sutton Foster in Anything Goes from 12 October at the Barbican Centre. As previously announced, Foster will depart the role of Reno Sweeney on 10 October.
York previously played Reno Sweeney in the national tour of Anything Goes in 2012 following its 2011 revival on Broadway, which starred Foster. Her other Broadway credits include roles in City of Angels, The Scarlet Pimpernel, Les Misérables, Victor/Victoria (for which she won a Drama Desk Award), Kiss Me, Kate, Sly Fox, and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. York was last seen on the West End in 2002, when she played Lilli Vanessi/Kate in Kiss Me, Kate.
In addition, Haydn Gwynne will replace Felicity Kendal as Evangeline Harcourt from 19 October. Gwynne won the 2009 Drama Desk Award for outstanding featured actress in a musical for her role in Billy Elliot the Musical on Broadway. She is also a four-time Olivier Award nominee for her roles in City of Angels, Billy Elliot the Musical, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, and The Threepenny Opera on the West End.
Cole Porter's classic musical follows the exploits of the passengers on a cruise ship bound for London. It will run until 6 November on the West End. The production has added two extra matinee performances on 27 October and 3 November.
