Gareth Gates and Tom Read Wilson to share role in the West End run of 'The SpongeBob Musical'
The pair will join the cast at London's Southbank Centre following the U.K. tour.
Gareth Gates and Tom Read Wilson will share the role of Squidward in The SpongeBob Musical when the show hits the West End this summer.
The pair will alternate in playing SpongeBob SquarePants’s angry neighbour during the four-week run, from 26 July to 26 August, at Queen Elizabeth Hall.
This comes after Gates (Legally Blonde, Footloose, Les Misérables) played this role during the entire U.K. and Ireland tour of the musical inspired by the well-loved Nickelodeon programme that shared the same name.
Tom Read Wilson is best known as being the receptionist on Channel 4’s Celebs Go Dating. He has also starred in a number of stage productions, including Sleeping Beauty, Alice in Wonderland and the UK Tour of Cat in the Hat.
The duo will join previously announced U.K. drag star Divina de Campo as Bikini Bottom villain Sheldon J. Plankton, along with Lewis Cornay as SpongeBob, Irfan Damani as Patrick, Chrissie Bhima as Sandy, Richard J Hunt as Mr Krabs, Sarah Freer as Pearl, Eloise Davies as Mrs Puff, Hannah Lowther as Karen, Rebecca Lisewski as Mayor, Sam Beveridge, Jeremiah Olaleye, Eleanor Turiansky, Rhys Batten and Reece Kerridge.
After the residents of Bikini Bottom discover a volcano is about to errupt and destroy their humble home, they need to save their beloved underwater world. SpongeBob and his friends go on a treacherous journey and discover an unlikely hero that might just be their saviour.
The SpongeBob Musical is at Queen Elizabeth Hall.
