Full cast revealed for Lynette Linton’s revival of 'Alterations' at the National Theatre
Alterations is part of the Black Plays Archive, an online catalogue of the first professional production in the UK of plays written by Black British, African, and Caribbean playwrights.
The full cast has been announced for Lynette Linton’s revival of Michael Abbensetts’s comedy Alterations, which explores the aspirations and sacrifices of the Windrush generation. Performances begin at the National Theatre in London on 20 February.
Joining Arinzé Kene (Get Up, Stand Up: The Bob Marley Story) as he makes his National Theatre debut as Walker Holt and Cherrelle Skeete (Hanna) as Darlene Holt, are Karl Collins (Nine Night) as Horace, Gershwyn Eustache Jnr (Small Island) as Buster, and Raphel Famotibe (Wonder Boy) as Courtney.
The cast is completed by Tyler Fayose (Phoenix Rise) as Ensemble and Understudy Walker, Richard Emerson Gould (The Vaudvillains) as Ensemble and Understudy Mr Nat, Joshua John (Romeo & Juliet) as Ensemble and Understudy Courtney, Colin Mace (War Horse) as Mr Nat, Samuel Nunes de Souza (The Prince and the Pauper) as Ensemble and Understudy Horace/Buster, and Yolanda Ovide (Slave: A Question of Freedom) as Ensemble and Understudy Darlene.
Linton’s (Blues for an Alabama Sky, Shifters) revival will be the play's largest ever staging, reinvigorated with additional material by writer Trish Cooke (Black Street Mammy).

Abbensetts’s comedy follows tailor Walker Holt, who has big dreams for his shop and an ambitious order to complete. Over the course of 24 hours, he must work tirelessly to satisfy his new client’s tailoring needs. But as the night goes on, tensions rise and Walker’s relationships are pushed to their limits. What is the price he is willing to pay for success?
The rest of the creative team includes set and costume designer Frankie Bradshaw, lighting designer Oliver Fenwick, movement director Shelley Maxwell, composer XANA, sound designer George Dennis, wigs, hair and make-up designer Cynthia De La Rosa, fight director Kate Waters, dramatherapist Wabriya King, voice and dialect coach Hazel Holder, assistant voice coach Tamsin Newlands, and associate set and costume designer Natalie Johnson.
