First look photos of Zizi Strallen and Charlie Stemp in Mary Poppins
Production photos have been released showing Zizi Strallen, Charlie Stemp and the cast of Mary Poppins at the Prince Edward Theatre in the West End.
Based on PL Travers' novel, the musical tells the story of a British family which is visited by a magical nanny, and it features original songs by George Stiles and Anthony Drewe, as well as the Sherman brothers' classic tunes such as "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious", "A Spoonful of Sugar" and "Let's Go Fly a Kite".
Directed by Richard Eyre and Matthew Bourne, this production stars Zizi Strallen in the titular role, which she has previously played on a UK tour of the musical, and Charlie Stemp (Half a Sixpence) as Bert. The cast also includes Joseph Millson, Amy Griffiths, Petula Clark and Claire Moore.
The creative team features set and costume designer Bob Crowley, lighting designers Hugh Vanstone and Natasha Katz, sound designer Paul Gatehouse, orchestrator William David Brohn with dance and vocal arrangements by George Stiles. Stephen Mear and Bourne both co-choreograph the show.
Mary Poppins returns to the West End after it premiered in London at the same theatre in 2004, when it became the first musical to have premiered in the UK.
Mary Poppins is at the Prince Edward Theatre until 3rd May.
Mary Poppins tickets are available now.
