Elena Skye to play Twiggy in Ben Elton's 'Close Up- The Twiggy Musical'

Skye will play the global star as she is thrown into the world of showbiz- from the London suburbs to the world's fashion capitals Hollywood and Broadway.

Elena Skye will play Twiggy in the world premiere of Close Up - The Twiggy Musical this autumn.

Written and directed by Ben Elton, the show runs from 27 September to 18 November at The Menier Chocolate Factory.

Elena Skye, who is currently playing Scaramouche in We Will Rock You, will star as the globally renowned supermodel, Twiggy, in a biopic of her life.

“It’s very unexpected, but truly an honour, to see my own life translated onto stage – and I can’t imagine a better, more generous, collaborator than Ben. I’ve been approached before about sharing my story, but never has the alchemy felt so right.” Twiggy said in a statement.

Writer Ben Elton also said in a statement, "In Elena, we’ve found a glorious talent – not just a unique voice, but someone who’s funny, honest and utterly authentic, very much like Twiggy herself.”

After becoming internationally known as the world's first supermodel at the age of 16, Twiggy was catapulted into the limelight in the mid-1960's. Close Up: The Twiggy Musical will follow her story, showing how, as a young working classic woman, she overcame issues of sexism and snobbery in the spotlight.

The creative team for this production includes choreographer Jacob Fearey, set and video designer Tim Bird, costumer designer Jonathan Lipman, sound designer Gregory Clark, and musical supervisor Stuart Morley.

Further casting is yet to be announced.
