"Chicago" cast changes from 13 Dec 2004 Michael French & Josefina Gabrielle join cast

Majar cast changes in Chicago from 13 Dec 2004: Michael French takes over the role of 'Billy Flynn' from John Barrowman; and Josefina Gabrielle returns to play 'Roxie Hart' taking over from Jennifer Ellison. Both will play the parts for 7 weeks to 29 Jan 2005.

The rest of the cast remain unchanged: Anna-Jane Casey as 'Velma Kelly'; Paul Baker as 'Amos Hart'; and Sharon D Clarke as 'Mama Morton'.

Michael French has starred as 'David Wicks' in BBC soap "Eastenders", "Holby City" and three series' of "Born and Bread". His West End stage credits include "Art" and "Les Miserables".

Josefina Gabrielle has previously played the role in both May 2000 and March 2001. Her other stage credits 'Laurey' in the National Theatre production of "Oklahoma!", both in London and on Broadway, 'Kathy Seldon' in "Singin' in the Rain" at Leicester Haymarket and Sadler's Wells; and 'Alexandra' in "The Witches of Eastwick" at the Prince of Wales.

Chicago is based on the play by Maurine Dallas Watkins, has a book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb. Scenic design is by John Lee Beatty, costume design by William Ivey Long, lighting by Ken Billington and sound by Rick Clarke. Musical supervision is by Rob Fisher and musical direction by Gareth Valentine. It is choreographed by Ann Reinking in the style of Bob Fosse and directed by Walter Bobbie.

Concerns Roxie, a chorus girl who has murdered her lover but manages to get acquitted with the help of sleazy lawyer.
