Casting announced for 'Dracula, A Comedy of Terrors', including Charlie Stemp and Diane Pilkington
James Daly will reprise the role of Dracula from the Off-Broadway run in Gordon Greenberg and Steve Rosen's reimagining of Bram Stoker’s horror classic.
Initial casting has been announced for Gordon Greenberg and Steve Rosen's Dracula, A Comedy of Terrors, which opens at the Menier Chocolate Factory in London on 17 March.
The comedy twist on Bram Stoker’s horror classic reimagines Dracula as a Gen Z pansexual in the midst of an existential crisis.
James Daly (La Cage aux Folles, Wendy and Peter Pan) reprises the role of Dracula from the Off-Broadway run, while Safeena Ladha (The 39 Steps, The Great Gatsby) stars as Lucy Westfeldt, Diane Pilkington (Only Fools and Horses, The Wizard of Oz, Mamma Mia!) as Dr. Westfeldt, and Charlie Stemp (Kiss Me, Kate, Crazy For You, Mary Poppins) as Jonathan Harker.
The rest of the creative team includes Greenberg (director, returning to the Menier having previously directed The Baker’s Wife and Barnum), Tijana Bjelajac (set designer), Tristan Raines (costume designer), Ben Cracknell (lighting designer), and Yvonne Gilbert (sound designer).
Further casting is yet to be announced.
