Bob Dylan musical Girl From the North Country to return to the West End
The Old Vic's production of Girl From the North Country, Conor McPherson's play with songs by Bob Dylan, is set to return to the West End later this year.
Directed by McPherson, the story revolves around a small fictional Minnesota town called Duluth during the Great Depression, and focuses on a family-run guesthouse and those who come to stay.
Girl From the North Country features the songs "I Want You", "Like a Rolling Stone", "Make You Feel My Love", "Hurricane", "Slow Train" and "Forever Young".
It premiered at the Old Vic in July 2017, before transferring to the Noel Coward Theatre in December of that year.
The musical will return to the West End at the Gielgud Theatre from 10th December, with tickets on sale from Monday 24th June.
The cast of this new production will feature Katie Brayben (Beautiful: The Carole King Musical), Gloria Obianyo (The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui), Rachel John (Hamilton) and Anna-Jane Casey (Forbidden Broadway).
They will be joined by Taylor Shaq, Colin Bates, David Ganly, Daniel Bailey, David Haydn, Sidney Kean, Finbar Lynch, Nicholle Cherrie, Donald Sage Mackay, Steffan Harri, Wendy Somerville and Si Gordon.
In a five-star review of the West End transfer, Mark Shenton said: 'Not since Once have I felt a show move with such organic vitality; the songs emerge from the action as a swirling, fluid commentary on it, though not specifically to further the dramatic action.'
This week, it has also been announced that Girl From the North Country will run on Broadway at the Belasco Theatre in February 2020, following a successful Off-Broadway run at the Public Theater.
Girl From the North Country is at the Gielgud Theatre from 10th December.
Girl from the North Country tickets go on sale on Monday, 24th June.
