'Be More Chill' to return to the West End for a limited run
The musical will play for 10 weeks at the Shaftesbury Theatre from June.
The squips are coming! Be More Chill will return to the West End this summer for a 10-week run at the Shaftesbury Theatre. The musical will start performances on 30 June and run through 5 September. Tickets for Be More Chill in the West End will be available soon.
The musical had just started a run at The Other Palace, when it was forced to close due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The original London cast will reprise their roles for this production. The ensemble includes Blake Patrick Anderson, Miracle Chance, Stewart Clarke, Eloise Davies, Scott Folan, Christopher Fry, James Hameed, Gabriel Hinchliffe, Renée Lamb, Eve Norris, Millie O'Connell, and Miles Paloma.
The musical follows a misfit high schooler who discovers the secret to being "cool" is swallowing a super computer, called a squip, which will help him learn how to fit in. However, what is the sacrifice he makes a result.
With a book by Joe Tracz and music and lyrics by Joe Iconis, Be More Chill received viral acclaim when the original cast recording took off. This sensation led to an acclaimed off-Broadway and Broadway run, for which Iconis received a Tony Award nomination for his music.
The London production features much of the Broadway creative team including director Stephen Brackett, choreographer Chase Brock, and set designer Beowulf Boritt.
Be More Chill is at the Shaftesbury Theatre from 30 June - 5 September.
