Actor John Wood dies at the age of 81

Actor, John Wood, has died at the age 81. His agent said he died peacefully in his sleep on Saturday (6 Aug)

His London stage credits in recent years include Shallow in "Henry IV part 1 & 2" at the Olivier, NT in 2005; Spooner in "No Man's land" at the Lyttleton, NT in 2002; Aeh in "The Invention of Love" at the National Theatre and Haymarket Theatre in 1998/99.

His many film credits include WarGames (1983), Ladyhawke (1985), Jumpin' Jack Flash (1986), Shadowlands (1993), The Madness of King George (1994), Ian McKellen's Richard III (1995), Sabrina (1995), The Revengers' Comedies (1997).

He received a CBE in 2007
